Adel Gabot is a freelance writer/editor based in the Philippines.
He is a freelance writer and editor. He also contributes frrequently to the Philippine Daily inquirer and other publications, regularly writes for the websites Technoodling and Manifesto, and does the Control Panel column for Explore Philippines. He also edits books and digital publications.
Adel was Business and Tech News Curator for The Social Standard website and he was Copy Chief for ABS-CBN Publishing for several years. He was also Editor-in-Chief of Manual, Images, Pinoy Rider Extreme and Mobile Philippines (M/PH), and was Executive Editor for Hinge Inquirer Publications for a few years. He also guest-EIC'ed for the Philippine editions of Golf Digest, PC Magazine and Maxim.
Adel also teaches writing, and used to teach a post-graduate course on Magazine Writing & Publishing at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde’s School of Professional & Continuing Education, as well as general creative writing.
Adel’s fiction has won him accolades, including 1st Prize in the 1985 UP Creative Writing Circle workshop and a Carlos Palanca Award for Literature for short fiction in 2000.
In a previous life, he used to be an FM radio DJ named Little David for almost two decades, produced commercials and hosted many talk shows, including co-hosting Twisted on A Sunday with Jessica Zafra for nine years. He eventually became president of the broadcasting company he worked for before he retired from that career.
Today, he loves Apple stuff, like his Macs, iPhones and iPads, and he also loves his Kindle Paperwhite and PS4. He likes to read and watch movies, specially sci-fi, old Sean Connery 007 films and the occasional horror potboiler. Adel also loves Ma Mon Luk mami and siopao, his video games, green tea ice cream, Aeropressed coffee and a good Merlot.
