August McCarthy

With his private practice located in Warrenton, Virginia, attorney August McCarthy serves the legal needs of clients throughout northern Virginia. McCarthy has experience in both federal courts and Virginia appellate courts, and lives by his firm's slogan, "One client at a time." McCarthy concentrates his practice on cases involving administrative law, civil litigation, and criminal defense. His experience includes legal representation for landlord and tenant contract disputes, personal injury, defamation, malpractice, license suspensions, and school expulsions, among others.

McCarthy also provides pro bono legal representation for victims of domestic abuse and works with nonprofit organizations to help provide further relief for those who have suffered domestic abuse. He volunteers his time to the Fauquier County Circuit Court's Neutral Case Evaluation program, and has worked with the Fairfax County Bar Association's conciliation program in the past.

August McCarthy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy at the University of Virginia. Following that time, he attended Plainfield, Vermont's Goddard College, where he attained a Master of Fine Arts degree in writing. As a law student at Arlington's George Mason University School of Law, McCarthy served as editor for its law school's Civil Rights Law Journal. In addition to editing, August McCarthy's written work was published in the journal, notably his article "The Lost Futures of Lead-Poisoned Children: Race-Based Damage Awards and the Limits of Constitutionality." He graduated from George Mason with his Juris Doctor.

August McCarthy's firm serves Fauquier, Rappahannock, Prince William, Loudoun, and Culpeper Counties. He is a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Fauquier County Bar Association.
