Chris Thinnes is a veteran independent school leader, an active collaborator with education leaders from the public and private sectors, and an engaged public school parent. For 15 years, Thinnes served in a variety of senior leadership positions at Curtis School, and as the founding Director of the Center for the Future of Elementary Education (CFEE). He is currently serving as the Head of Lower School (K-5) at the Wesley School, consulting with several schools and organizations, and completing his Ed.D. in Education Leadership for Social Justice at LMU while consulting and facilitating on a limited basis for now.

Thinnes is a member of the #EduColor collective, and serves on the national Board of Directors of the Progressive Education Network (PEN). He served previously on NAIS‘s advisory council on diversity, 'Call to Action' (CTA), EdLeader21's Advisory Group, and the Edcamp Foundation‘s public relations committee. He has been honored as a Fellow of the Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence, named one of Carney Sandoe's "8 Thought Leaders to Follow Now," and featured as a panelist for the ASCD Whole Child Town Hall. His writing about education issues has appeared in GOOD, Living in Dialogue, and Independent School Magazine.
