A certain teacher made a profound difference in Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim's life, and that is why he has chosen to follow that career path himself. Even before he made it through Teach for America's stringent guidelines to instruct students in high-school mathematics and history, he had honed his skills in oral and written communications. He had also acted as a teacher's assistant in English and math classes and tutored students with special needs. In addition, Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim has tutored students in the SATs, history, English, algebra, and geometry. In his posts for Teach for America, an organization that trains educators to make an immediate difference at underachieving schools in urban and rural settings, he has instructed students in Los Angeles and South Central L.A.

Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim attended Santa Rosa Junior College, where he played tennis and participated in student government as an officer. The Co-Captain of the tennis team his sophomore year, he also provided private tennis lessons and hosted weekend tennis seminars for area youth. Excelling academically, he earned an Associate's degree in History at the institution. At The University of Pennsylvania (Penn), Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim received a Bachelor's degree in History. During his tenure at the school, he earned appointment to the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology board as the student advisor and became an officer in Penn in Hand, the only school club focusing on deaf awareness and sign language. He possesses proficiency in American Sign Language.

Also a successful entrepreneur, Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim co-founded, grew, and sold his first company before he turned 20. Cyrus & Sonny produced trendy, silk-screened apparel for young men and women, sold in upscale celebrity boutiques. The teenager bought out his partner after graduating from high school and later positioned the company for sale, receiving three offers shortly after putting it on the market. In other interests, his 50,000+ baseball-card collection includes Satchel Page and Mickey Mantle rookie cards. A native of Los Angeles, Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim has traveled to dozens of countries and holds a global view. He plans to make the world a better place, one student at a time.
