Dawn M. Forbes D.D.S. has been a practicing pediatric dentist since 1999 after completing her residency in pediatric dentistry at the Columbia University / New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Dr. Dawn Forbes received her D.D.S. in 1997 from the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery and is board certified. Dr. Forbes gained valuable experience in seven years as an Associate Dental Practitioner in Irvington, New Jersey, and in 2006, opened Kids Smile PC in nearby Monmouth Junction, a solo pediatric practice dedicated to making a child’s visit to the dentist a routine, low-stress errand. Comfortable, safe surroundings and a caring staff help create a trusted environment that lasts throughout the patient’s childhood. Patients with special medical needs receive attentive individual care with whatever modifications are needed for the typical course of pediatric dental treatment. During her dental school years, Dawn Forbes actively pursued training outside of her classes. She conducted clinical research at Harlem Hospital Center for two studies. One examined saliva volume in HIV infected patients with and without parotid gland hypertrophy and the other compared the effect of bottled water, tap water, and filtered water on the rate of children’s caries.

She completed four externships, starting with an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Physical Diagnosis externship at Harlem Hospital Center followed by a Physical Diagnosis externship at Bellevue Hospital Center. Dawn Forbes’ next externship was in General and Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontic treatment of special needs patients at Van Etten Hospital in the Bronx. Her last externship was in General Dentistry at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. For one year, she was also an Examination Assistant for the North Eastern Regional Boards. Dawn Forbes spent three years working as a Laboratory Technician at New York Presbyterian Hospital. In her final year of residency, she accepted a fellowship in Dentistry for Special Needs Patients at Blythedale Children's Hospital in White Plains, New York.
