Donald Pope-Davis

A prominent higher education administrator with experience in the disciplines of clinical and counseling psychology, Donald “Don” Pope-Davis, Ph.D., recently served as the director of the Multicultural Research Institute (MRI) at the University of Notre Dame. During his time with the MRI, he worked to create new learning opportunities in multicultural psychology and advance the development of students pursuing degrees in the field. Donald Pope-Davis, PhD, also spent several years as the chair of the Faculty Board on Athletics (FBA) at Notre Dame, where he managed all student-athlete performance policies and served on an NCAA national review committee.

Prior to chairing Notre Dame’s FBA, Donald Pope-Davis, PhD, served the school as associate provost, responsible for recruiting, retaining, and matriculating graduate students. In this position, he worked to increase the number of minorities admitted to the school’s graduate program. He subsequently became associate dean of the graduate school , then interim dean of the graduate school and vice president of research, during which time, he helped increase research funding

Dr. Don Pope-Davis received his M.Sc. in education from Indiana University and his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Stanford University. He has contributed to a number of scholarly publications over the years, including the 2011 National Black Catholic Survey: An Examination of Attitudes of Black Catholics in America. A former fellow of the Kroc Peace Studies Institute, Donald Pope-Davis, PhD, was also a fellow at the Alliance for Catholic Education and the Center for Special Concerns.
