Dr. Allen Siegel

Dr. Allen Siegel offers psychiatric services with an emphasis on psychoanalysis and the psychology of self. Licensed to practice in Illinois, Dr. Siegel holds certification from the American Psychoanalytic Association. Actively involved in his field, he has written and lectured on various topics in psychiatry, psychoanalysis, and more. In addition, Dr. Allen Siegel enjoys writing on topics related to psychiatry. In 1996, Dr. Siegel wrote the book Heinz Kohut and the Psychology of the Self. He also contributed to other books, including a chapter titled “Theory is Personal” for the Annual of the New York Academy of Science and definitions for the Psychoanalytic Glossary of the American Psychoanalytic Association. He has written and co-authored articles for the Archives of General Psychiatry and Progress in Self Psychology. He currently serves as International Editor of the journal Psychoanalytic Inquiry. Besides overseeing his private practice, Dr. Allen Siegel recently launched The Nautilos Group, a consultancy which focuses on providing psychotherapeutic services to executives and members of family firms and organizations. Dr. Siegel’s work with CEOs stems from his belief that many executives ignore their emotional health to the detriment of business efficiency. He and The Nautilos Group offer services relating to inter-generational conflict, non-financial legacy planning, and psychological preparation for retirement. In addition to his professional pursuits, Dr. Allen Siegel engages in a number of personal endeavors. Contributing video interviews with Holocaust survivors to the Yale archives, Dr. Siegel has also lectured and written about the subject. With a passion for building wooden scale models of ocean-faring ships, he and his wife live in Chicago.
