Dr Rakesh Wahi MD

A vascular surgeon with nearly 40 years of medical experience, Dr. Rakesh Wahi treats patients at several locations in the Maryland region. As the proprietor of a private practice, he provides clinical care to individuals with vascular diseases. He also serves as a staff surgeon at -Grant Memorial Hospital and at Charleston Area Medical Center. Since 2000, he has performed as a consultant to the thrombosis research group at Loyola University in Illinois. Moreover, Rakesh Wahi, MD, is the director of clinical research and the medical director at the ICAVAL-accredited Center for Vascular Medicine in Greenbelt, Maryland.

To prepare for his career, Dr. Wahi completed his medical studies at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, India. After completing a rotating internship at the institution, he moved to the United States and accepted a residency in general surgery at Cook County Hospital. Subsequently, he completed fellowships in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery and in thoracic oncology at the University of Toronto and at MD Anderson Cancer Center, respectively. He finished an advanced fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic before concluding his clinical training as a cardiac surgery fellow at Cook County Hospital and Rush University. Presently, Rakesh Wahi, MD, is a Fellow with the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada and holds board certification from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
