Fruit and vegetables are beautiful!

I paint culinary still life. As a Dutch artist abroad, I work in a traditional, figurative style using techniques common in 17th-Century Holland.

The attention to detail and anatomy is a nod to the renewed interest in taxonomy during the Dutch Golden Age. The use of light-dark drama contributes to jewel-like, atmospheric paintings.

I'm working with artisan food producers this year, painting their produce and helping to conserve culinary heritage and celebrating good, local food.
