Ed Cabellon

A Community Facilitator in Higher Education

Ed Cabellon picture

Ed Cabellon has 15 years of progressive experience in Higher Education administration and is considered a leader in Social Media and Technology integration, education, and assessment. He has worked in various Student Affairs departments such as Residence Life, Student Activities, and currently serves as the Director of the Campus Center at Bridgewater State University. His research interests include digital identity, technology literacy, student engagement through social media, and underrepresented student access to technology.

Ed connects on social media to create, grow, and sustain learning communities through his blog and twitter. His efforts fostered an online electronic mentoring program called "Student Affairs Grow" (#saGROW) in 2010; the first ever Student Affairs and Technology UnConference at Boston University in 2011 (#satechBOS); and successful fundraising efforts for the UNICEF Education Fund and "Student Affairs Grow" graduate students.

Ed believes that understanding one's "Digital Identity" and gaining literacy in technology should be part of the core curriculum in a 21st century Liberal Arts education; that every enrolled college student should have access to high speed internet while matriculated; and that the most powerful learning happens when it is peer-peer.
