East Continental Gems can trace its roots back four generations to Russia in the 1930s, where Eli Mirzoeff's grandfather began the family's tradition of excellence as sellers of gems and jewelry. His father continued that tradition in Italy, and eventually passed it on to his son when Eli Mirzoeff brought that passion to America and founded East Continental Gems in Manhattan, New York. He has since passed the tradition on to his own son Adam Mirzoeff, a certified Gemologist with a formal education from the Gemological Institute of America.

Eli Mirzoeff runs East Continental Gems, alongside his son, with a focus on family and service that has continued throughout the business' success. He personally oversees all areas of business and sells his wares to prestigious jewelers and stores, as well as individual clients, around the world, including in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and on Madison Avenue in New York City.
