Frank A. Pishkur

Artist and Educator

Frank A. Pishkur's artwork has been featured in over eighty shows throughout the United States, a solo exhibition in Seoul, Korea and fifteen other solo exhibitions. His work explores the subtle coloration effects of iron in celadon glazes and features patterns and textures created by carving through porcelain slips to reveal the darker stoneware body of Pishkur's forms.

A native of Michigan City, Indiana, Pishkur is the Chair of the Art Department and Professor of Art at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri where he teaches a variety of ceramics and other three-dimensional art courses.

Prior to MSSU he was an Invited Professor of Ceramics at Kyung Hee University in Suwon, South Korea and a Visiting Artist at Lousiana College in Pineville, Louisiana.

He earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics (M.F.A.) from Wichita State University and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Ceramice (B.F.A.) from Indiana State University where he was also a graduate of the Honors Program.
