Fred Winsmann

Newton, MA

A lifelong resident of Massachusetts, Fred Winsmann has built a reputation as a committed psychologist and community member. In his private practice in the Boston area, he provides assessment and psychotherapy for adolescents and adults in both individual and group therapy settings. He also provides evaluations and expert testimony to the Courts in Massachusetts in a wide range of cases including guardianship, competency, criminal responsibility, disability determination, and mental health commitment.

Additionally, Fred Winsmann teaches at Massachusetts General Hospital. And he rose to the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force Reserve, conducting character evaluations of Officer candidates.

Fred Winsmann is a graduate of a Massachusetts Preparatory School, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Fielding Graduate University. In his spare time, he enjoys running, meditation, cross-country skiing, and martial arts such as kung fu and tai chi. An avid reader, Fred Winsmann has a particular interest in the existential philosophers.

Fred Winsmann's overarching philosophy is essentially existential and thinkers such as Nietzsche, Camus, and Sartre have shaped his life outlook.
