Gopalkrishnan Iyer is a social scientist, educationist and an assessment expert keenly involved in measuring learning amongst school children. He is currently pursuing his PhD from the Newcastle University, and looking at ways to improve low cost private scholing for the poor. Prior to that he worked for the Global consulting firm Nielsen and was keenly involved in impact measurements, creating policy frameworks and providing advisory services to various Governments as well as funding agencies.

He was associated with the World Bank and has managed large scale assessment programme in India called PISA (Programme for International student Assessment) wherein he successfully rolled out scientific testing for children enrolled in the Government as well as the Private schools.
He had stints with start-ups like Educational initiatives, iDiscoveri, wherein he has managed and executed large scale projects single handedly and also imbibed the skill of creating high quality scientific instruments. One his landmark studies executed with the Royal educational council Bhutan today forms the cornerstone of reforms in the country.

He firmly believes that scientific assessments ameliorate our understanding on how children learn, and are the way forward to promote learning by understanding in schools rather than rote and mechanized learning. He is a keen lover of technology and firmly believes that learning levels amongst children can be enhanced introducing new technology in educational institutions at early stages.
