Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez joined the competitive gaming scene years ago as a competitor when he was forced to give up a promising high school football career due to injury. He got the same rush of competition behind the controller as he did on the field, and pursued championships in Halo, Call of Duty, and even Asphalt 4 for the cell phone.

His winning personality and positive reputation as a community mentor paved him an unexpected path to the forefront of the industry when, in 2011 at the MLG National Championhips for Black Ops 1, Alex first broadcasted an event. Since then, he has been invited to host and sports-cast events for Activision, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, MLG, IPL. WCG, UMG, eSports Services, Paradox Interactive, and Twitch. He is also a regular contributor to gaming news giant Kotaku.com and frequent guest on console gaming discussion shows.

Most recently, he emceed and casted the Halo Global Championship, which was broadcasted online and on the Xbox Live dashboard, for Microsoft and 343 Industries.
