Golee Abrishami

Before launching a successful career as a therapist, Golee Abrishami earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University (CSU), Sacramento, from which she graduated cum laude. Over the course of her studies at CSU, Dr. Abrishami received much accolade, garnering the Western Psychological Association's Regional Research Award. She was also a Statewide Student Competition regional and statewide competitor, and served as the Secretary of the Psi-Chi National Honors Society. Golee Abrishami went on to complete her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Brigham Young University.

Presently, Golee Abrishami works at Oceanaire in Fremont, California where she serves as the Program Director. She has been associated with the company since 2009. Dr. Abrishami works in individual, group, and family settings with patients coping with eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa and anorexia. Dr. Abrishami oversees the supervision of the treatment facility, supervises all employees, and develops, institutes, and evaluates treatment programs that are tailored to each patient. Prior to this, she worked at the Center for Discovery in Menlo Park, California, where she served as the Lead Therapist. Her responsibilities included providing psychotherapy for adolescents suffering from eating disorders as well as to their families, co-leading process groups, leading Dialectical Behavioral therapy and other psychoeducation groups, and conducting insurance utilization reviews for each client.

Dr. Abrishami spent one year in Aurora, Colorado, where she completed an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship at the Aurora Mental Health Center. At the AUMHC, she functioned as the primary therapist for adults living with a variety of mental health disorders, such as posttraumatic stress disorder and mood, psychotic, anxiety, and personality disorders.

Before starting her internship, Golee Abrishami performed four externships over the course of a two-year period. Dr. Abrishami worked in conjunction with Intermountain Healthcare in Provo, Utah; the Center for Change at Orem, Utah; the Vista Adolescent Treatment Centers in Magna, Utah; and the Dimple Dell Adolescent Treatment Center in Sandy, Utah. From 2003 until 2006, Dr. Abrishami served as a Student Therapist at Provo's University Comprehensive Clinic.
