Howard Fineman

As a journalist I've used every tool and medium except a crop duster and sky-writing -- and I'm willing to try that, too. I started at a neighborhood newspaper in my hometown of Pittsburgh. I edited student newspapers at Colgate and Columbia. I worked six years for a great regional newspaper and three decades for Newsweek magazine. I was one of the first Washington print reporters to write for the web, starting on msnbc.com in 1998. Over the years, I've done TV reporting and analysis with CNN and now NBC and MSNBC. I also wrote a best-selling book about American history. But the best and most exciting thing I've ever done was to sign on with Arianna Huffington to help build The Huffington Post.

We recently re-launched OfftheBus, our open-source, citizen-based reporting project. You can help make politics coverage better by signing up at offthebus.org.
