Logistics:
We flew with Wow Air from Gatwick to Keflavik (not mad impressed but the cheapest option) and then with Air Iceland (very good indeed) from Reykjavik to Akureyri.
Comms:
We had good 3G coverage for most of the route BUT DO NOT COUNT ON THIS TO GET YOU OUT OF TROUBLE. You can let the Icelandic SAR know that you are on the hill and leave a Travel Plan with them on their website http://safetravel.is/ (do this!). We took a findmespot device with us and had SAR insurance cover in case we had a real problem.
Accommodation:
AirBnB in Reykjavik. The Mountain Huts if you use them have boxes to leave your payment for accommodation.
Hope that helps. Have a great time!
