James K. McCully

* James K. McCully studied in New York City with Metropolitan Opera tenor Jerry Hadley's teacher; and Metropolitan Opera and Paris Opera soprano Marjorie Lawrence.

* James K. McCully studied with Dallas Opera conductor, vocal coach and accompanist Dr. Michael Cordovana, the musical assistant to Maestro Nicola Rescigno founder of Lyric Opera of Chicago and Dallas Opera, and favorite conductor of Maria Callas.

* James K. McCully adjudicated the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions with the Paris Opera artistic director Bernard LeFort, the winner now Metropolitan Opera soprano Jan Grissom; and the National Opera Vocal Competition with Metropolitan Opera tenor George Shirley, the winner now Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Dana Beth Miller.

* James K. McCully served for over a decade as a National Endowment for the Arts On-Site Evaluator of Professional Opera and Musical Theater Companies and their Emerging Artists Programs across the nation; and as a National Council on the Arts Opera Musical Theater Fellow under the direction of OPERA NEWS editor Patrick Smith.

* James K. McCully served as a member of the voice faculties at Catholic University and National Conservatory; and co-taught musical theater classes with the American College Theatre Festival Kennedy Center producing director Dr. David Young.

* James K. McCully served as chairman of the National Opera Convention with Metropolitan Opera tenor Placido Domingo at Kennedy Center; and as general director of the National Museum of Women in the Arts Vocal Competition with international chairs Metropolitan Opera soprano Dame Joan Sutherland and Maestro Richard Bonynge.

* James K. McCully served as an Arts and Humanities Nominator for the prestigious $250,000 Heinz Awards; recipients Metropolitan Opera soprano Beverly Sills and Metropolitan Opera composer John Harbison. 

* James K. McCully students sing for AGMA Opera Houses, AEA Theaters, International/National Tours, National Cathedral, National Shrine, National Theatre, PBS, The White House, Presidents and Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

* James K. McCully received the Signature Sinfonian Award for a lifetime of excellence and for his professional accomplishments from the Sinfonia Music Fraternity of America; and featured in AMERICAN MUSIC TEACHER (US), MUSICAL AMERICA (US) and INTERNATIONAL ARTS MANAGER (UK).
