James Taterka

A respected member of the greater Philadelphia medical community, Dr. James Taterka serves as a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association. Dr. James Taterka possesses extensive experience in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Since 1993, Dr. James Taterka has served at Hillmont G.I., PC, in Flourtown, Pennsylvania.

As one of the founding members of this facility, Dr. James Taterka performs a variety of administrative and medical duties, which include overseeing patient care, visiting hospital patients, and performing a variety of gastrointestinal (GI) procedures. He is also responsible for educating resident physicians on various GI-related treatments and methods. In addition, Dr. James Taterka serves at Springfield Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. James Taterka functions as Medical Director at the facility, where he is responsible for treating a number of gastrointestinal diseases, including colon cancer.

He regularly performs colon cancer screenings and diagnoses various liver and biliary tree diseases. In addition to his medical responsibilities, Dr. James Taterka oversees and monitors staff performance, maintaining the facility's superior standards. Prior to his tenure at these two facilities, Taterka completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He served as an attending physician at Chestnut Hill Hospital and the Lansdale Hospital of Abington Health in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

Dr. James Taterka received his medical degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1985. During this period, Dr. James Taterka completed a medical internship at Columbia University Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian in New York City, eventually taking a fellowship with the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Prior to studying at Columbia University, Dr. James Taterka graduated magma cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and reading.
