Jamie Crisp

Before becoming an educator and coach, Jamie Crisp earned a BA in secondary education, with a focus on history and geography, from Clemson University in South Carolina. He soon after secured a teaching and coaching position with Walhalla High School, where he taught U.S. history and global studies, sponsored school clubs, and served as a member of the Literacy Club. After a number of years at Walhalla, Jamie Crisp joined McCormick High School and taught sociology and psychology, as well as U.S. history. He focused on using technology and interactive activities to increase student learning and participation.

In 2006, Crisp became a teacher and the social studies department chair at Woodmont International Baccalaureate High School. In this role, he performed a variety of administrative functions and restructured the social studies curriculum, in addition to mentoring new educators. While in this role, he also attended Capella University and earned an MS in educational administration leadership.

Most recently, Jamie Crisp served as the social studies department chair for J.L. Mann High Academy in Greenville, South Carolina. He also taught U.S. history, and under his direction, students in his history classes improved test performance by 15 percent in 2013. Crisp balanced these responsibilities with his role as the school’s varsity football coach.
