I'm a long haired ex-goth computer geek. I love my cats, computers, consoles, my electric car, science fiction and fantasy escapism, story-focussed video games & role-playing games, digital photography, and my wife Stephanie.

I'm a database & web developer (previously using IBM Notes/Domino and XPages, now branching out into Python and Django) and an Apple macOS/iOS/iPadOS support specialist. My actual job title is "Manager (Database and Software Projects)", and I support academic research in the Specialist Support Unit of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) faculty at The Open University, in Milton Keynes, England.

I used to co-administer and moderate the unofficial UK Nissan LEAF owners' forum, LEAFTalk UK (now closed). The LEAF was the first mass-produced electric car, and people needed somewhere to learn, discuss, and support it.

As a hobbyist geek, I'm the sort of person who would be a computing go-to guy whether it was my job or not. I firmly believes that this makes me a better candidate than people who are simply doing a job for the money, as it gives me a broader foundation of interest, experience, and motivation.

I spell my name as "Jef" by habit, formed due to entering it into too many video game high-score tables in the 80s, which only allowed three letters. The 'Furry' bit of my nickname is just because I have long hair!
