Jordan G. Lewis, PhD (she/her)

Neuroscientist, State Policy Leader, and Science Communicator

Academic scientist turned public servant, with diverse experience in policymaking, research, and data analysis and visualization.

Passionate about evidence-based policy that lowers barriers to equity, dismantles societal stigmas toward marginalized communities, and promotes social justice.

I'm also passionate about communicating complex health and scientific topics and debunking misinformation. While working on my doctorate, I reached over 20 million readers through articles written for CNN, NBC, Scientific American, Nature, The Washington Post, and more. My award-winning communication work has also been featured in blogs, book chapters, through data visualizations, public speaking (including an official TED talk), press interviews, and social media management.

My research experience is varied, ranging from epidemiological models and working with human subjects to studying animal behavior, cell models for disease, performing chemical extraction, and regenerative biology.

I enjoy staying connected with my alma maters and mentoring STEM students and postdocs on careers outside of the traditional tenure track, showing them how their unique skillset can benefit sectors where their voice is needed now more than ever.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, fitness, and crafting. Most importantly, I’m a proud mama to my two energetic boys, ages 3 and 5. They keep me grounded, put life in perspective, and make sure I see the sunrise daily!
