Having completed his doctor of veterinary medicine at the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, Joseph Bisignano, DVM, pursued residency training in Internal Medicine and became board-certified in this field in June 2014. As an internal medicine specialist, he provides animals with care for a range of diseases, from autoimmune to gastroenterological conditions as well as kidney disease, infectious diseases and liver disorders. Joseph Bisignano, DVM, also completed a one-year rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. He handled routine procedures, such as spays and neuters, and cared for emergency, internal medicine and surgical patients throughout complex procedures.
Dr. Bisignano has past professional experience with Dolphin Quest in Waikoloa, Hawaii, as a dolphin trainer and veterinary preceptor. In this position, he ensured the dolphins’ daily care and fulfilled an organizational mandate of public education and marine mammal conservation. Dr. Bisignano oversaw training sessions with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins that emphasized husbandry behaviors. He also worked as a trainer for the NY Aquarium, focusing mainly on Sea Lions and California Fur Seals.
