Kate Storey

Metro Detroit, Michigan

Storey was a fortuitous surname for someone like me, who loves to help people tell their own stories.

With more than 10 years of public relations outreach and social media program development and management in both the B2C and B2B arenas, my goal is to help my clients use both traditional and new media tools to share what makes them unique.

I'm proud to be part of the Markit Strategies & PR team, where I currently lead social media program efforts for a leading manufacturing cloud ERP provider, including the launch of their blog and management of regular posts and increasing their presence and followers on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Before this role, I served as social media manager for The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mich., where I formalized and launched the institution’s social media program and provided strategic direction for all social media initiatives, including their Facebook fan page, Twitter account, YouTube channel and Flickr account.

However, I'm most proud of leading the re-design and regular content creation of their blog and the relationships I formed with local, regional and national bloggers and other social media influentials.

I started out at The Henry Ford as the national media and film relations manager, facilitating coverage with on-site national and international print and broadcast media crews. I also pitched and secured proactive placements in key travel and lifestyle media outlets including USA Today, Woman’s Day, CNN, Home Magazine and Midwest Living. As new exhibits came to Henry Ford Museum, I also developed the content and managed the design and production process of print and digital media kits.

So that's my story...what's yours?
