Dr. Kevin R. Buckwalter, M.D. has an extensive medical career that spanned from Nevada, to Pennsylvania, to California, and finally back to Nevada. Despite Buckwalter’s impressive medical accomplishments, he has completed a lot more than most normal physicians outside the healthcare field. Buckwalter researched and authored his own book of ancestry, which provides detailed information on his family descendents from 1834 to 1979. Titled, John Edwin Buckwalter Sr. and Descendants, the 151 page book addresses the question we all ask ourselves…. Where did I come from? As a doctor, Buckwalter is no stranger to helping people, and he goes out of his way to help people in ways outside of his medical office. From 1992 to 1994, Buckwalter worked on a missionary service in Georgia on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Buckwalter studied Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno and earned his Medical Degree from Ross University School of Medicine. During these demanding years of health care studies, Buckwalter managed to branch out and engage in additional academic research, including his research assistance with the University of Nevada’s Zoology department on “Glial Regeneration in an Insect Central Nervous System.” Dr. Kevin Buckwalter earned his Diplomate certification from the American Board of Family Practice (now known as the American Board of Family Medicine) in 1998. The same month Buckwalter earned his certification he joined the Family Practice and Urgent Care unit at the Fremont Medical Center in Nevada. After several years at Fremont and some additional time conducting medical work in California, Buckwalter returned to Nevada to lead his own medical practice, Kevin Buckwalter, M.D. Ltd. Buckwalter is a member of several important professional medical organizations, including the Nevada Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association. Buckwalter has been at each of these organizations for at least a decade and continues to actively participate within them.
