Educator. Non-Profit Leader. Women's Health Advocate. Writer. Inspiration Agent. Change Engineer. Mother. Renaissance Woman!
To accomplish my life's mission to inform, inspire, and empower, I wear many hats. I balance them all with passion, purpose, commitment, and competence.
EDUCATOR & NON-PROFIT LEADER. I am a versatile and experienced non-profit leader and educator with a 20 year record of leading, developing, and reinvigorating transformational efforts across the non-profit, business, and PreK-16 education sectors. My driving focus is to create & expand opportunity and access to children, families, and communities, and in the organizations that serve them. I see opportunity and potential everywhere and in everyone, and invest my energies in seizing and growing both.
One of my proudest legacy efforts was the conception and co-founding of the highly successfull DoIT Information Technology Academy (ITA) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
WOMEN'S HEALTH ADVOCATE. I am the Founder & Host of Black Women's Wellness Day, an annual event (now celebrating its 6th year) that informs, inspires, and empowers women of African descent to build wellness-centered lives. Read more about it here.
The success and growth of this work led me to found The Foundation for Black Women's Wellness in 2012, a Wisconsin-based non-profit organization committed to eliminating health disparities and other barriers impacting the lives of women and girls of African descent. We lead life-changing outreach and education work that is empowering thousands of women and girls to build new legacies of wellness for generations to come.
WRITER. Writing is a necessary passion I discovered as a young girl. To put pen to paper is cleansing, freeing, and an act of love when shared with others. I write to express, to heal, to inform, to inspire, to empower, and to spur thought and action.
INSPIRATION AGENT. CHANGE ENGINEER. RENAISSANCE WOMAN!
I live to inspire, to be a force of positive change, to lend my talents and time where needed most, and to learn. These commitments keep me on the cutting edge of new and exciting endeavors and possibilities.
