Marcelo Martinho Pedro

With more than a decade of experience working as a business executive, Marcelo Martinho Pedro currently serves at Olam Brasil, a leading provider of supply chain management for food ingredients and agricultural products. Mr. Pedro established the company’s sugar operations in Brazil in 2005, securing pre-financing, managing logistics, and directing trade. From 2005 to 2007, Marcelo Martinho Pedro oversaw all of the daily operations of the development of the company’s Brazilian sugar division.

Owing in part to the quality of his work, Mr. Pedro advanced to the position of Country Manager in 2007. In this role, he served as head of Olam Brasil in Brazil, with responsibilities that include managing all rice, cotton, and sugar operations and the local distribution of spices.

Prior to joining Olam Brasil, Marcelo Martinho Pedro served as Partner and Managing Director of Bolsa 1, a brokerage house dedicated to the physical trading of ethanol and sugar. In this position, he utilized his connections with AgriWeb, an online brokerage that he had founded in 2000, to merge the operations of the two companies.

After attending the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, where he earned his Master of Business Administration, Mr. Pedro joined Cargill Agrícola in Brazil, as Manager of New Business Development. Among his duties while there, he managed the company’s ethanol trading operations, implemented domestic sugar trading, and procured large volumes of crystal sugars and very high polarization (VHP) sugar. Further, he was also involved in the company’s capital expenditure (CAPEX) investments by developing products for the company’s sugar division.
