Mark Duplessis
I graduated from LSU with a BA. Majored in Communication Studies w/ concentrations in Performance Studies and Speech, along with a Minor in Film and Media Arts.
While there I studied and worked in the performance space known as the Hopkins Black Box. -
"The HopKins Black Box plays host to a full slate of undergraduate and graduate courses in performance studies and an annual season of public performances. Our course curriculum addresses three main trajectories in performance studies: everyday life and cultural performance, stage adaptations of texts and other materials, and the avant-garde and performance art. Our public performances range from informal workshop presentations, to performance showcases that frequently highlight classroom work, to multi-media installations, to fully staged scripts written or adapted by the performer or director."
I also spent my time in Studio 151 as a student and volunteering as a mentor. -
"This facility, a joint project with the College of Arts and Sciences, Communication Across the Curriculum (CxC), the Department of Communication Studies, and Film and Media Arts, provides our students with media technology practice with which to complement their study of film and media theory and history. Studio 151 functions as a classroom for several FMA courses as well as a laboratory for students and faculty to work on research and class projects and to attend workshops pertaining to digital media software and hardware, or tutoring session with CxC mentors."
I want to create something that the rest of the world will look upon and value, I want to create that one thing of true beauty and ingenuity that will be remembered forever and recreated and copied by the people of the future. That one thing will be my life goal and my life goal will be what I work towards always. Whether it be a piece of art, a performance, students, or a piece of furniture; that thing will be me.
