Matthias Wholley

In 2011, Lieutenant Matthias Wholley began a tour at the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Admissions Office. In this position, Lt. Matthias Wholley offers advice to potential freshmen on various aspects of the admissions process, and travels around the country to recruit the most promising students for the USCGA. In addition, he reviews applications and makes recommendations to the admissions committee.

Before assuming his current role at the USCGA, Lt. Matthias Wholley commanded the Coast Guard Cutter Anacapa and brought it home safely from Baltimore, Maryland, to its remote homeport in Petersburg, Alaska. He has also served as Operations Officer aboard the CGC Spencer in Boston, engaging in Fisheries Law Enforcement and Drug and Migrant interdiction patrols. Before that, he acted as Patrol Boat Manager, Command Duty Officer, and Search and Rescue Controller in the First Coast Guard District Command Office in Boston.

Lt. Matthias Wholley graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2002 and began his first tour as a Deck Watch Officer and First Lieutenant on the CGC Campbell soon thereafter. While serving in this tour, he oversaw the cutter's relocation to a new homeport in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

After a successful career in the Coast Guard, Lt. Matthias Wholley joined FM Facility Maintenance as an Operations Manager overseeing facilities maintenance for large commercial companies in Hartford, Connecticut.

At present, Lt. Matthias Wholley resides in Connecticut with his wife, daughter, and dogs. He strives to spend as much time as possible with his family and enjoys exploring the greater New England landscape through a full range of outdoor activities, from hiking and backpacking to mountaineering and camping. He also enjoys kayaking and mountain biking.
