Mauricio Guillen Castellanos

Mauricio Guillen is a well established artist who’s design & photographic work has appeared in national and international magazines, such as Matíz Gráfico del Diseño Internacional, Reflex, Neo2, and Etapes Graphiques, among others. Before residing in Detroit, Guillen worked as chief designer at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City; studied his Master degree in the Analysis and Decode of the Visual Image, and moved onto work as the art director for WOW Internacional and File® Magazine. In Guillen’s professional history, he has worked with literary collaborations for prints and magazines such as EneO and No ficción from Editorial Celeste. In 2005 he worked with the staff of Garash Gallery for Arco. He has given specialized lectures on image in Centro de la Imagen, Universidad Iberoamericana, the European Institute of Design and CCS (the College of Creative Studies). In 2007 he was delegated to professor at Univesity Centro, Diseño Cine y Televisión and co-curator in the exhibition El Arca de Neón at MUCA. This same year he oversaw the art direction for Clear Magazine in Detroit Michigan, USA. Guillen has selected works featured in various design websites such as, weabe.at, behance.net, scmao.com, lebyte.com, toopen.com, magspreads.net and seventothree.com Currently Mauricio Guillen works as a freelance at mauricioguillendesign.com and is owner/creator of the first Design Hotel in his hometown in Mexico. His strong link with the art world and design place him as a strong promise within the cultural promotion in Mexico, Detroit and abroad. Guillen has new printed collaborations with Chois Gallery Books and Sandu Publications (China), Computer Art Projects (UK) Haute Muse Magazine (Qatar), Poladarium 2012 (Germany) and Designers Books (China).
