Offering a broad range of specialized services to patients living in California's East Bay, rheumatologist Melissa McNamara MD, launched the Arthritis and Rheumatology Center five years ago. At her private practice based in San Ramon, Dr. McNamara partners with individuals diagnosed with conditions, including lupus, fibromyalgia, and rheumatoid arthritis. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Melissa McNamara MD, completes diagnostic evaluations and executes state-of-the-art treatment plans.

A member of the American College of Rheumatology and American Medical Association, Dr. McNamara served as Delegate to the Resident and Fellows Section of the California Medical Association. In order to effectively treat patients experiencing problems affecting bones, muscles, and joints, the physician uses musculoskeletal ultrasounds to identify and care for rheumatologic conditions.

Maintaining privileges at San Ramon Regional Medical Center, Melissa McNamara MD, offers patients Hyalgan, steroid, and cortisone shots and tendon, joint, and tender point injections. Additionally, she cares for patients of childbearing age who have been diagnosed with diseases that may impact pregnancy.

Dr. McNamara completed a rheumatology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, and an internal medicine residency and obstetrics and gynecology residency at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Oakland, California. Earning a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Health Care Management and Policy from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Supporting an assortment of charitable organizations, Dr. McNamara contributes to Toys for Tots and KQUD public radio. In addition, she backs the annual Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Walk. In her spare time, she travels and engages in outdoor activities, including snowshoeing and biking.
