As President and Chief Medical Officer of OccMD Group P.A., Melissa D. Tonn, MD, focuses on medical management solutions for companies electing not to participate in the Texas workers' compensation system. Melissa D. Tonn, MD, obtained her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and completed a residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Melissa Tonn additionally earned an MBA in Health Care Management and Finance at Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Administration. Throughout the 1990s, she held numerous Medical Director positions, both with health care entities such as the Presbyterian Healthcare System in Dallas and with private corporations. She worked with businesses such as M.W. Kellogg Company in Houston, Levi Strauss & Co. in Dallas, and Lyondell-CITGO Refining Co., Ltd., in Houston. Since 1995, Dr. Melissa Tonn has served the University of Texas School of Public Health in various capacities. She has acted as Adjunct Assistant Professor, Site Preceptor, Lecturer, and Residency Program Selection Committee member. Since 2003, she has maintained an appointment as Site Preceptor and Associate with the University of Texas Health Science Center’s Department of Occupational Medicine. Melissa Tonn, MD, enjoys status as a fellow with professional organizations such as the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American College of Preventive Medicine, and the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (AADEP). In addition, Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Dr. Melissa Tonn to the Board of Regents of Texas Woman’s University in 2011.
