I am a retired University lecturer in Psychology, now living in the Isle of Man. My academic research and publications are in the areas of transpersonal psychology, parapsychology, and Jungian psychology. I was brought up in Bath, Somerset, where I was educated at City of Bath Boys School (1961-1968). I studied Psychology at the University of Leeds, and graduated with BSc (Hons, 1st Class) in 1974 and PhD in 1981. I worked in Liverpool as a lecturer in psychology for 32 years, at City of Liverpool College of Higher Education (1979-1985), Liverpool Polytechnic (1985-1992) , and Liverpool John Moores University (1992-2010). I am the author of 'Self-Discovery the Jungian Way: The Watchword Technique' (Routledge, 1992), and of 'Shadow, Self, Spirit: Essays in Transpersonal Psychology' (Imprint Academic, 2005). I am also Editor of 'Transpersonal Psychology Review,' the Journal of the British Psychological Society Transpersonal Psychology Section. I am a keen amateur magician and mentalist and the author of several technical ebooks based on effects I have developed. I am enjoying the opportunity to pursue these interests with greater vigour in my retirement. I have developed and maintain three educational-entertainment websites: www.psychicscience.org; www.transpersonalscience.org; and www.mindmagician.org. I am married to Dr Catriona Mackie, who is Lecturer in Manx Studies at the University of Liverpool's Centre for Manx Studies based in Douglas, IOM. I have two grown-up daughters from a previous marriage.
