Midwest College of Oriental Medicine

Throughout its 32-year history, the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine has been at the forefront of holistic and alternative medical training and education. The Midwest College was founded in 1979 in order to educate students and advocate for the advancement of Oriental Medical practices like acupuncture in the United States. Initially ignored by Western Medicine, acupuncture now is considered an accepted medical procedure, licensed and regulated in most U.S. states. The work performed by the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine's faculty and alumni is widely recognized by the mainstream medical community.

The faculty at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine includes some of the most accomplished Eastern Medical practitioners in the country. Serving as the President of the college is William Dunbar, an accomplished academic and health professional with years of experience in the fields of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. An alumnus of Guangzhou University, he holds a Doctorate and is a licensed dietitian nutritionist.

With accreditation from the Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the Midwest College offers a rigorous academic program. Students at the Midwest College are successful, and nearly 92% of each class boasts a passing grade on the National Board Exam. Among the many programs offered, perhaps the most impressive is the college's Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program. Unique to Midwest College, this program provides students with an in-depth study of Oriental Medicine and a degree that is recognized in the United States and in Canada.

The Midwest College of Oriental Medicine provides students with more than just an advanced degree and a knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine; the school also offers valuable professional experience. For years, the faculty and administration have provided students with internship opportunities around the globe, including studies at medical facilities in China. Additionally, both students and teachers have participated in nationally recognized initiatives like the Chicago AIDS Alternative Health Project.

The Midwest College of Oriental Medicine currently enrolls a total of 300 students at the main campus in Racine, Wisconsin, and the satellite campus in Chicago, Illinois.
