Growing up in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, I was accustomed to seeing hockey rinks at an early age. Following the hometown Cornwall Royals, Cornwall Aces and Cornwall Colts, I found a passion inside that has never left. Hockey. I reluctantly cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs with my father in the 90′s and can recall the ’93 Cup run like it happened yesterday. Since then, my love for the game flourished and I found a team to call my own, the Philadelphia Flyers.

Being a woman in any part of the sporting world can be intimidating. Over the past few years I have found myself waiting to make my opinions known and have an outlet for other aspiring women who love the game. I was lucky enough to be presented an opportunity as a staff writer for Blackout Dallas, a blog that covers the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars and is associated with Sports Illustrated. With that push, I am jumping into the world of sports journalism with two feet.
