Carolyne Van Der Meer is a journalist, public relations professional and university lecturer.

Carolyne runs a consultancy practice in PR that focuses on strategic storytelling for a roster returning clients. Her specialties include content creation and development; thought leadership strategy; magazine journalism (mainstream and industry/trade publications); media analysis and strategy; media training; internal communications strategy and counsel; coaching for writers; ghostwriting; and editing and deep revision.

Carolyne has undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Literature from University of Ottawa and Concordia University respectively, and a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing from the Humber School for Writers. Her journalistic articles, essays, short stories and poems have been featured in publications internationally.

Her first book, Motherlode: A Mosaic of Dutch Wartime Experience, was published by Wilfrid Laurier University Press in 2014. Her second book, a collection of poetry entitled Journeywoman, was published in 2017 by Toronto-based Inanna Publications. Her first bilingual book, which she translated herself, Heart of Goodness: The Life of Marguerite Bourgeoys in 30 Poems | Du cœur à l'âme : La vie de Marguerite Bourgeoys en 30 poèmes, was published by Guernica Editions in 2020. This book was awarded Second Place in the Poetry category of the 2021 Catholic Media Association's Annual Book Awards and was a finalist in The Word Guild's 2021 Word Awards.

A fourth book, a collection of poetry entitled Sensorial, was published by Inanna in spring 2022, followed by a chapbook entitled One Week's Worth but a Lifetime More (Local Gems Press) in June. In 2023, with Irish poet Michael Farry, she published the chapbook Broken Pieces: Hospital Experiences. Her fifth book, All This As I Stand By, will be released by Ekstasis Editions in 2024. In addition, another chapbook, Communing with Sparrows, is forthcoming from Cactus Press sometime in 2024.
