PainCare Medical

Since 1992, PainCare New Hampshire has been providing expert and highly specialized treatment for patients suffering from chronic and acute pain. New England?s largest pain practice, PainCare NH currently treats over 10,000 patients each month and maintains a dedicated staff of 16 providers and over 190+ support personnel.

Utilizing a range of approaches, from fluoroscopically guided injections, to physical therapy, alternative therapies, and counseling to advanced techniques like implantable pain devices, PainCare provides all of its services in-house, under one roof, for the convenience and comfort of its patients. Founded by Dr. Michael J. O?Connell and Dr. John C. Bell, the PainCare concept grew from observations gained while working as anesthesiologists at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New Hampshire.

When Dr. Michael O'Connell established a pain clinic within the confines of a busy hospital, the overwhelming patient response indicated the need for a larger facility catering specifically to pain treatment. Following the success of the first PainCare surgicenter in Somersworth, Dr. Michael O'Connell and his staff expanded in 1998, opening a second ASC in Merrimack. Since then, ten additional clinics have been added.

In addition to its twelve pain clinics, PainCare NH operates the New Hampshire Suboxone Program, an addiction treatment and recovery clinic, and the People Care Foundation, a not-for-profit organization devoted to educating young people about the dangers of prescription opioid drug abuse using a so called 'harm reduction' model. Committed to philanthropy, Dr. Michael J. O'Connell, PainCare New Hampshire contributes generously to many charities and regional organizations including Seacoast Hospice, St. Charles Children's Home, the Cocheco Arts and Technology Academy, and New Hampshire Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. PainCare employees even roll up their sleeves each week at a Dover, New Hampshire soup kitchen, and prepare up to 50 meals for the community's less fortunate members.
