In solo, private practice since 1993 at Sortland Law Office, PLLC, in Minneapolis, civil attorney Paul Sortland litigates legal and medical malpractice, personal injury, and business lawsuits on behalf of individuals and companies. Throughout his more than 30 years in legal practice, Paul Sortland has helped clients who have experienced damages due to the negligence or improper actions of others to win settlements and jury verdicts noted in both local and national publications.

Along with his trial experience, Paul Sortland has instructed several continuing legal education courses and previously taught at Minnesota State University Moorhead as an adjunct professor of business law. Prior to establishing his law office, he served as a partner and chair of the business litigation section for a prominent law firm based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Before beginning his career, Paul Sortland graduated cum laude with a BA in history from St. Olaf College and subsequently completed a JD at the University of Minnesota Law School. He is admitted to practice law in Minnesota and North Dakota, the US Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. A member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Mr. Sortland holds civil trial specialist certification from the organization’s civil litigation section.
