Hru Unihk Imhotep Atn Ra

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Hru Unikh (pronounced heh-ru like Peru, Unique) began his musical journey at the tender age of 9 years old, playing the snare drum in elementary school. Hru was inspired by his cousins Walter Livingston (bass guitarist/drummer) and Sylvester Livingston (lead guitarist/bass guitarist), both of whom are self taught musicians. Following in their footsteps, Hru picked up the bass guitar as well as the drums and learned to play well enough to participate in many school plays and local talent shows.

Hru played the bass guitar until one day he developed a passion for the drums after watching his cousin Walter playing funk rhythms on the drums. Hru taught his best friend McKinley “Kalane” Williams how to play the bass so he could play the drums more. That was the beginning of Hru’s first band, Protégé, in 1980. Eager to learn, Hru sat in on many rehearsals with his cousins Walter and Sylvester and was extremely impressed by a drummer named Carl “D-Dog” Wilson. Carl was the funkiest most syncopated drummers of that era and highly respected Now over 30 years later, Hru is known as the "Pocket Master" for keeping the beat tight and locked into the groove when playing with bands.

Throughout his career, Hru has been a busy stage and studio musician as well as a highly versatile drummer able to perform various genres of music.

Hru studied music under the tutelage of band directors Tommy Grice (saxophonist) and Tom Passerella (Pianist/Hammond Organist) during his high school years. Thereafter, played with several bands such as The Grace Little Band, Trenton, NJ; Smooth featuring Darryl Gibson -Trenton, NJ; Kameko - NYC; X-CLU-CIF - Trenton, NJ, The Joel Smith Project - Trenton, NJ; Greg Merkle (guitar virtuoso) -Trenton, NJ, SHOWTYME - Trenton, NJ, Hru has also shared the stage with various other bands, opening for the likes of Mike Phillips (saxophonist), Jaguar Wright, Yazarah St. James, Chinah Blac, and Craig “muMs” Grant.

Hru released a CD in 2010 on www.reverbnation.com/mikamuseic with songstress “MIKA” from Harlem, NY entitled “CONFIRMATIONS”
