Rafi Cohen

Rabbi Rafi Cohen is a second generation Conservative rabbi. He and his wife Michele and their son, Benjamin, joined Congregation Beth Torah in the summer of 2011. Soon after their arrival, they had their very own Texan, welcoming Tal Jonah to the family.

Passionate about food and the environment, Rabbi Cohen initiated the first recycling program at Congregation Beth Torah. Rafi enjoys teaching and leyning Torah, singing, and trips to Starbucks with high school and college students in the area.

After earning his BA in Near Eastern & Judaic Studies at Brandeis University, Rafi was an Admissions Officer for AFHU, worked at the National Ramah Commision Israel Programs and a Program Manager at United Jewish Communities. He completed his MA in Jewish Education at the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America where he was ordained in 2009.

Rabbi Cohen is member of the Board of Hillels of North Dallas and engages with Jewish students and faculty alike at UTD. Rafi is an active member of the Rabbinic Association of Greater Dallas, on the leadership team of the Richardson Interfaith Alliance, and a member of the Community Advisory Council to the Center for Jewish Education.

He loves writing and you can follow his blog at rabbicohen.wordpress.com and on Twitter @RichardsonRabbi.
