Rainer Gruessner

Rainer Gruessner started his career in surgery shortly after finishing his postgraduate studies at Philipps-Universitat in Marburg, Germany. In 1991, after completing his Professorial Thesis (German Ph. D. equivalent), he took a position at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. He would achieve tenure at the University of Minnesota by 1996, being promoted to full professor, and, through ’98 would hold positions including Vice-Chief of the Division of Transplantation and Director of the Intestinal Transplant Program.
