Stephen J Cooney

Stephen J. Cooney is a former commercial contract pilot, businessman, and pastor. A graduate of the University of Montana, he received his commercial pilot’s license from Commercial Flight School in 1977. He earned his master’s in Biblical studies from Trinity Theological Seminary in 1997 and his doctor of ministry in Christian counseling from Covington Theological Seminary in 1999. Throughout his life, Stephen J. Cooney has maintained a high level of dedication to helping those around him. Since the mid-1980s, he has led regular humanitarian trips into Central America, helping children in such countries as Panama and Costa Rica. Through these trips, he and his group have rebuilt a school in Costa Rica and expanded Iglesia Bautista Orphanage in Panama.

Stephen J. Cooney and his church have also worked closely with Compassion International to sponsor children in need. So far, his home church has sponsored more than 600 children around the world. In 2009, Mr. Cooney moved to Uruguay for two years. While there, he worked with local pastors on the building of a youth camp in the country that children could attend during summer.
