Hello, I teach the violin using the Suzuki method, a listening based approach and a step-by-step method, also known as "Talent Education". I teach young students as well as intermediate students with an emphasis on creating a positive environment in which to develop skill and character.

The Suzuki method is also known as the Mother Tongue method because of the parallel between language and music acquisition for young children. Everyone can speak their mother language, and so, can learn an instrument in the same way: by listening and emulating. Parents play an important role in the Suzuki method by learning the violin along with the child and helping them learn practice skills at home.

In the beginning I teach students how to learn the music by ear, and later how to read musical notation. One of the most exciting aspects to this method is that students get to start playing pieces of music immediately with the Twinkle Variations by Mozart. The rest of the repertoire is organized into ten volumes and consists of a combination of folk songs and arrangements of Baroque dances and original Suzuki composed pieces with more advanced repertoire as they progress.

I have a few open spots left in my schedule, and would be happy to schedule a first meeting and answer any questions you have. I also teach guitar and songwriting.
