T. Rick Fletcher, Ph.D.

Moscow, Idaho, USA

As my primary work, I am on the faculty at University of Idaho, with a home in the Department of Chemistry. I spend most of my time thinking about the forces that cause chemical reactions, and I try to help teachers teach better. I am curious about the ways we learn difficult material and this led me to contract work developing instructional materials using new media, primarily with video. I'm busy developing and practicing engaged learning techniques. I'm concerned about the challenges the USA faces educating our young in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) so I'm active at influencing state policy about public education.

I live in Idaho for the rivers, lakes, mountains and open space. I love to be knee deep in a fast-moving river. I act like I'm flyfishing but I'm really just being. I love cities too, but I travel for that.
