Tammy Williams

A lauded educator with 25 years of experience, Dr. Tammy Williams currently serves as Dean of Academics at American Hebrew Academy in Greensboro, North Carolina, a 150-student boarding school for students in grades 9 through 12.

Dr. Tammy Williams is a founding faculty member and has taught Advanced Placement (AP) science and biology courses since 2001. She also chaired the science department until becoming Dean of Academics in 2005. Dr. Williams now holds numerous administrative responsibilities. In addition to scheduling classes and overseeing curriculum development, she has instituted an official academic coaching program to assist students who need a more structured environment, led the development of a leadership academy for all grades, and implemented a new teacher evaluation and professional development program. In 2010, Dr. Williams received American Hebrew Academy’s Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Tammy Williams earned a B.S. in Science Teaching from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill in 1985. Dr. Williams subsequently enrolled at UNC Greensboro, graduating in 1987 with a M. Ed. in Middle Grades Science Education. She later continued her studies at UNC Greensboro, earning her Ed.D.in Curriculum and Teaching Science K-12 in 1997.

Dr. Tammy Williams taught at several schools in Guilford County before accepting a position at American Hebrew Academy. On four separate occasions, Dr. Williams received the Teacher of the Year award from the schools where she worked. She also earned the High School Science Teacher of the Year award from the Guilford County Business Advisory Commission in 1999.
