Lawyer, Marketer, and Journalist in Miami, Florida
My name is Teresita Chavez Pedrosa. I have a Bachelor in Communications, a Juris Doctor, and am working on a Master degree in Marketing.
First and foremost, I am a communicator. I am a strong and seasoned writer who, among other things, has written for news publications as well as on behalf of numerous clients during the course of litigation. I have taught university students how to write – while teaching legal research and writing at FIU Law School. I am also a confident and animated public speaker who is naturally extroverted and genuinely enjoys engaging with an audience, interviewing and storytelling. My past public speaking experiences include courtroom advocacy, teaching classes, communicating with mass audiences at professional conferences, social media outreach, radio, and television. I am personable, make friends easily, and consequently have an international network of contacts.
I am also an advocate; and probably one of the few lawyers who still encourage people to go to law school, if they are so inclined. As I once heard someone say: “Having a law degree is like having a black belt in life.” This is particularly true in a nation of laws. Over the course of my career, I have litigated on behalf of Big Tobacco, pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, seamen with maritime claims, and people with personal grievances. I have championed numerous causes, the most important of which has been child welfare. For my representation of a little boy in dependency court, Lawyers for Children of America honored me with the John Edward Smith Child Advocacy Award. I have experience in both state and federal courts.
