The Traveling Vineyard
The Traveling Vineyard is a relatively new business concept allowing self employed wine lovers to earn extra income by hosting in-home wine-tasting events. In the comfort of the host's house, guests are invited to taste five different varieties of wine from The Traveling Vineyard's exclusive inventory. Participants of The Traveling Vineyard's gatherings are educated about how to pair wines with the correct foods and given a tasting lesson similar to the experience received during a winery tour.
The Traveling Vineyard wine-tasting events provide the Independent Wine Consultant with an opportunity to earn extra income. After friends and family gather in the host's home for an entertaining and relaxing evening of learning about wines and sampling various bottles, they may submit their interest to order their favorites from The Traveling Vineyard's winery, earning the party's Independent Wine Consultant a marketing fee guests interest to order submission. Marketing fees average from $100 to $150 per event.
The Traveling Vineyard's in-home wine-tasting events originated from founder Rick Libby during his employment as Chief Marketing Officer of Geerlings & Wade, Inc., the number-one direct-to-home wine distributor in the United States. Mr. Libby held an experimental wine tasting in Tampa, Florida, in 2001, which was a rousing success.
Since its inception that year, The Traveling Vineyard has grown into a national enterprise, with Independent Wine Consultants operating in several states. Rick Libby now serves as President of The Traveling Vineyard and its parent company, Phoenix Vintners, LLC. The Traveling Vineyard maintains membership with the Direct Selling Association, WineAmerica, and Free the Grapes.
