Originally from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Tom's first big career break came when he was hired by Saint Laurent/rive gauche. (Yves Saint Laurent) It was here that Tom's fashion and interior design education began. Tom was introduced to the world of high fashion and trained by some very notable French fashion pesonalities: Didier Grumbach, and Georges Wichener greatly influenced and mentored his career path.
Scanlon was fortunate when none other than Andree Putman came to Philadelphia to retrofit the Rive Gauche boutique that she had originally designed and furnished. Ms. Putman graciously included Scanlon in the creation of the boutique's re-design. A few years later, Scanlon was called upon to again update the boutique - but this time, without the assistance of Ms. Putman. The redesign doubled sales for the boutique, and Scanlon's ideas resulted in an American Institute of Architecture Award for the architect who finalized the plans.
In his role as Creative Director for Houston Home Staging, Tom oversees all creative aspects of the business and his tutelage has created a force mejor in the Houston home staging industry!
