Troy Buckner, based out of Southampton, New York, is a well-known private art dealer. Born in Coos Bay, Oregon, Buckner spent most of his childhood in Seattle, growing up in an artistic household. His father, a sculptor and art history professor, greatly influenced Troy Buckner's career in art dealership. Buckner frequently watched his father cast bronze pieces and accompanied him to art galleries in the city showcasing his creations. Now working in the secondary art market, Troy Buckner handles the art of such celebrated American modern masters as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Roy Lichtenstein. In Seattle, Troy Buckner had the opportunity to meet Virginia and Bagley Wright, important regional art connoisseurs who at the time had the largest collection of modern and contemporary art in the Pacific Northwest. Cultivating his artistic sensibilities, Buckner attended many Seattle area gallery openings such as the Ferris Gallery, one of the most prominent local art venues, and studied art history and psychology at the University of Washington. Troy Buckner moved to New York and in 1998 established Clark Fine Arts in Southampton. Buckner showed and sold works by prominent contemporary artists such as the metal sculptor John Chamberlain and painters Larry Rivers, Chuck Close, and Donald Sultan. He also launched an important exhibit of early drawings by Larry Rivers. The show, ?Lost Drawings from the 50s and 60s,? captured a seminal moment in Rivers? artistic evolution, giving art lovers a glimpse of his skill with naturalistic portraits. Notably, the exhibit received mention in Art in America Magazine in a piece entitled "Drawings, Lost and Found." Troy Buckner currently advises many prominent collectors on the Forbes 400 and ARTNews Top 200 lists, and also consults with local museums on future acquisitions. A regular attendee at several art industry events and fundraisers like the Parrish Art Museum Midsummer Party in Southampton, Buckner supports Jazz at Jennings, which benefits the Bridgehampton Child Care Center. Dividing his time between Southampton and Manhattan, Troy Buckner holds membership with the Museum of Modern Art and the New Museum in New York City.
